FSA Utility "Number of files queued for restore"

Hi All,
I am currently nearing the end of a export from Enterprise Vault from the FSA side.
I have been using fsautility -t with a separate destination.
The question I have is: Is there any reason why the numbers "Number of files queued for restore" does not match the number of indexed items / number of items in the usage page?
I am seeing up to nearly 1k items difference for some archives.
The export successfully runs against the number stated in the fsautility and the number of items exported to the destination matches.
However, I fear there are items in the archive that are not even being attempted to be exported?

EV10 - VAC Indexing - credential prompt
I need a solution
Hello all,
When logged in to the EV-server, using an account that is Power Admin and Indexing Administrator in the Authorization Manager.
In the VAC, click on Indexing. I get a logon prompt.
When entering that account information, I get the Indexing dashboard.
When clicking Cancel, I have as summary:
HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized
You are not authorized to view this page due to invalid authentication headers.
It seems to be going here:
D:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault\webapp\Indexing
I've verified rights, and do believe I should be able to access without issues. When logged in with the VSA, there is no issue.
Does anyone have an idea what to check next?

embedded images in shortcuts for Exchange archiving

I'm intrerested to know if it's possible to maintain embedded images within a shortcut?
I may decide against this in production but am trying to test the result of setting the shortcut to use the 'message body' and achiving an html item with an embedded image. From what I've seen the image is always stripped out but I read that a registry setting 'removeembeddedattachments' set to 0 would leave them in place - but this also seems to remove the image.
Is there a setting that will still allow me to view an image within a shortcut?

EV EMA and Sizing spreadsheet question

I've recieved some figures from the EMA tool (I'm using version 3) and pluged these into the sizing tool. Generally very impressed with the whole tool etc but there is one question I'd like to clarify a bit.
So on the tool, and it appear on most tabs so I'll pick the 'ExchMbxSteadyState' tab for this question, there is a figure for "Throughput rate adjustment due to message size" which is in the last table (line 101) and has a figure that has been manually adjusted down from the benchmarked ingest rate due to the higher than 'average' message size.
That's all fine and I get the reason why the figure has been adjusted - but my specific question is:
Is there a particular process that suffers due to large message sizes? eg If it's the indexing then can I offload indexing to an index server group to increase the throughput? btw - if I set indexing to 0% this fugure doesn't change. If it's SIS then wouldn't it need to know how I plan to share (in store or in group) if I plan to share at all.
Just curious as to why it can drop so dramatically ( by 2/3rds in my case) and if I can do any configuration changes to minimise the impact. Apart from double the spec of the server...... :o)

EV Journailing Stopped after Migration
I need a solution
At the weekend we did a migration from EV9 to EV10.0.4 and used the migration wizard to do it.
After the inital migration did some checks for searching and retrieval and everything looked good.
So ran the backup's to make sure everything is good and then today I look and the Journal isn't archiving.
I found the Event ID 41111 - "Error: Failed to resolve duplicate legacyDN for mbx"
I've looked at the TECH74074 and ran the SQL command and found 2 entries. Both linking to the same Default Vault ID.
MBXIndenty = 783 and 892
How do I know which one to delete?

Restore archived mail / api

I want to unarchive an email from outside the enterprise vault http-only addin - in my custom outlook addin. I know there is no support for what I am doing, but for the convenience of the users I would risk it.
As far as I understand it should be two steps to replace the archived mail with the original:
- Set the mail MessageClass to “IPM.Note.EnterpriseVault.Shortcut.RestoreMe”;
- Do a http call to the enterprise vault webservice (got it from fiddler).
I can easily do step 1 - in step 2. I get an http 200 so I assume I did everything correctly.
But now the mail is not replaced - is there something I am missing?

EV Migration wizard and windows 2012 server...

As I understand EV 10.4 can be installed on a 2012 server if you do not archive from domino. I do not realy know if EV support 2012 R2 yet.
I´m going to do a migration from 2008 R2,EV9-->2012,EV 10.4. And I loved the migration tool last time i used it.
Do anyone know if the migrationwizard work on 2012?

Advanced Indexing and Search for SEV9 on Outlook 2010

Currently using Exchange 2010, SEV9, on Win7 and Outlook2010. The Search function on Archive Explorer and Outlook2010 plug-in doesn't suit the business needs. Aside from X1 (http://www.x1.com/), are there any other products which can index items on the vault, allow searching through SEV quicker?

EV 10.0 and Exchange 2010 Migration to Office 365
I need a solution
I have a customer on EV 10 for Exchange and they have the need to migrate off the on-premise exchange 2010 and EV 10 environment. They have chosen to go to Office 365 / Exchange Online w/ archival licensing. Can I please get some recommendations on migration options for their 4TB of archive data (Journal and User Archive). They have been stubbing all archived messages for quite some time.
I understand that it is possible to restore each users archive to the on-premise exchange 2010 mailbox assuming there is space. The export to .PST format and utilize a PST Capture like tool to push up to the Office 365 cloud account.
This is time consuming and since these users stub their archived messages and have moved stubs around to folder for organizational purposes. When the archive is restored mail returns to the point it was archived from not necessarily the same folder as the stub.

Report / SQL Query containing the email adress of an mailbox archive
I need a solution
Hello.
For billing issues I am in need to get a list with all EV mailbox archives (this morning 21061 archives -and growing) and their mailbox email address. I run though the Operation manager and did an export on the Administration console as well, but all I get is the alias and the Displayname.
Because the other lists I have to match the archives with do have only the emailadresses as a common value, my last hope is to get the emailadress out of EV as well.
Is their a way to get the emailadress out of EV ?

OWA shows archived emails as normal emails
I need a solution
Dear all,
I have Mailbox archiving enabled, as a test i archived all my emails and they are sucessfully stored on the store. I can see in both outlook and on the exchange server that my mailbox is only 5mb in size. outlook Cashed mode is disabled, no OWA plugin/configuration has been made.Yet i can see all emails in my mailbox in OWA as normal emails, and they all work fine.
How would this be possible? as they should be not accessible at all and i should receive a message that i cannot access the archive vault.
I want to make sure OWA + archived emails does not work.

Problems accessing archived items

Hi All,
I have a deep rooted issue that I just can't seem to get to the bottom of.
I initially came across this issue as I am in a project of decomissioning EV for a customer. I am exporting files from FSA, firstly replacing the placeholders back to the file servers using fsautility -b and secondly exporting the entire archive to a scratch storage using fsautility -t -d.
I have came across a small number of files that throw up errors during the export to the scratch storage. The original event id is 41145.
Restoring of file [filename] failed for destination [destination]
Additional info: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.
Along with a 6882 event id:
Unable to complete retrieval request
Reason: Decompression failed. The number of bytes actually read does not match the number of bytes expected. (0xc004713d)
Both these errors come from the File Server Archive Manager.
These errors also lead me on to another underlying issue. I find the file(s) causing the issue and drill down to them using Archive Explorer. When I double click on the item it comes up with "GetOnlineAttachmentFileSize 0x80004005"
It also gives the event ids: 6882 and 6287 when trying to open the file.
The 6287 event id is a Web Application (WP) warning stating:
Unable to fetch item from [Server]
Reason: Unspecified error (0x80004005)
Reference: [GOAFS]
I have ran a dtrace against w3wp, storagerestore, storageonlineopns, storagemanagement, storagefilewatch, storagecrawler and storagearchive and recreated the issue when trying to open via archive explorer.
The DTRACE is attached.
I am most concerned about the line:
592 11:52:04.917 [4524] (StorageOnlineOpns) <4564> EV:L {CZlibCompressor::LoadInputBuffer:#381} Zero bytes read from the stream, normally indicating end of stream (or a read problem under heavy load).
I have tried searching each issue one-by-one, but I feel like I'm chasing my tail with this one. Any help would be appreciated.

FSA Reporting 'cannot access the fsa reporting web service'

Everytime we try to expand "File Servers" under the targets branch we get an error "Enterprise Vault cannot access the fsa reporting web service...."
After having a look around I found the following article.

Now when I check the FSAReportingWSLocations table I find the following.

Location 1 is the one the error reports on, it doesn't exist anymore.
Location 6 is actually the same as Location 5, evserver04 is the alias for the server called datcapp208s.
So, Can location 1 and 6 be removed using a simple SQL query and will I then need to set evserver01 as location 1 etc to get the order right again ?
Will this resolve the problem ?
I don't want to mess with the DB until I know for sure what I'm doing is right and will fix it.
