Missing Enterprise vault TAB in Outlook 2010

I am missing the Enterprise vault TAB in outlook.

 

This is the log file:

The cause is that we disable the use of Outlook cached exchange mode by the windows policy, setting this key

 

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Cached Mode

Dword: Enable

Value: 1

 

We set this key to prevent the creating of an OST file in outlook

Why is it that vault doesn't load up and how can this be changed.

Placeholder timestamps do not match originals in vault

I need a solution

I'm doing some testing with fsautility and the -b function.  It is consistently restoring files with modify dates precisely 4 (or 5) hours older than the timestamps that were on the placeholders.  After some spot checking of files in the vault versus the equivalent placeholders on my CIFS share, everything in the vault is consistently 4 or 5 hours older than the equivalent placeholder timestamp.

It's worth noting that these placeholders have all been migrated from a Windows file server to a CIFS share on a NetApp.  I don't know if this is relevant point or not.

I've checked the clock settings on my EV server and they're correct, as is the timezone.

I don't know whether this is an EV issue or not.  Could it be the placeholder migration (fsautility -pm) I did back in November?

How to copy archived old files from the fileserver ?

In my Fileserver that I'd like to migrate, how can I make sure that the files that has been archived by EV can be successfully copied not only the pointers but the whole file completely ?

Please share the method and tools that I can use.

move a folder from a storage location

Hello all,

We use mountpoints to give EV storage locations.

I have one location which is completely full. Why is not known, we assume someone set the rollover value for the volume at 1% (or perhaps 0%).

I have this location:

G:\EVSTORAGESRVXXX\EVSTORAGE2\EVSTORAGE\2007
G:\EVSTORAGESRVXXX\EVSTORAGE2\EVSTORAGE\2008
G:\EVSTORAGESRVXXX\EVSTORAGE2\EVSTORAGE\2009
G:\EVSTORAGESRVXXX\EVSTORAGE2\EVSTORAGE\2010
G:\EVSTORAGESRVXXX\EVSTORAGE2\EVSTORAGE\2011

G:\EVSTORAGESRVXXX\EVStorage2 is the folder where the disk is mounted in. EVSTORAGE2 is the mountpoint. The foldername EVSTORAGE is to handle the virusexclusions-settings.

Is it possible to only move folder 2007 (as example) without too much trouble in SQL? I am aware of how to move the complete location, but that is not the goal of this question. Is it simple, or does it require extensive updating of multiple tables?

I am also investigating if it is possible to get more storage allocated (either to extend the disk, or to add it somehow using a new mountpoint), but that might take too long...

report on archive properties - permissions

Hi

Does anyone know of a utility or script to report back on permissions assigned to archives - i.e. the information that shows on the permissions tab under achrive properties as in attachment?   Ideally the name of the permissioned user/group, but even if it can report back just a SID that we can separately find out associated user.  I know EVPM can set permissions, but not sure if it can just report back.

 

Sort of related... does anyone know how to programmatically change the name of an archive?  It can be done easily manually through the VAC, but would like a script or something where we could input the archive ID, and the new name of the archive.

 

Our environment is EV9

EV FSA - can not add any volume

Happy new year to all!

 

I am a little bit confused, because I have a problem, which I can not resolve nor I can see any reason for it.

 

I have an EV 10.0.2 FSA-only installation. Everything is installed as it shoud be (Deployment Scanner) and I have a license for it istalled.

I configured EV in a normal way - Services, VSG, VS, VS Partitions. Created Volume and File Policies for archiving. Created an FSA Archiving Task and added the File-Server as an archiving target. I remotely installed the FSA-Agent on the Windows Server 2003 x64 without problems.

Then I try to add a volume by using the internal browser. Then I select the Vault Store and if I click on "next" an error message pops up with no content. It's just a small white window with a red "X" and the "OK"-Button.

I tried all possible tech notes (screen filter on the server, MMC, DCOM) without success. Reinstalling the FSA agent does not help. I tried another server (the EV server itself with Windows 2008 R2 x64) with the same result.

As of my understanding, it should be regardless at this point of configuration, if an FSA Service is available or not, but I am confused as the Properties of the FSA-Target does not show any version Information - but it should, because the services on the Fileserver are running. Firewalls on EV Server and File Server are disabled. To eliminate communication problems due to DNA, I addes the EV-Server to the hosts entry of the Fileserver in all combinations Computername and Alias and both full qualified.

I Dtraced a little bit (MMC and Screen filter on the Fileserver) without any hint.

I reinstalled all Binaries of EV without success

 

Any ideas?

EV client add-on for Outlook

I have a user whereby after installing the EV client add-on for MS outlook 2010, the EV tab does not appear in the toolbar of outlook.

how do I enable the EV add-on to appear ?

Under Outlook Options Add-in, I can see that EV add-on is already installed, but it does not show up in the Outlook Home Tab.

Microsoft Jan'13 patches breaks OWA plugin

Hello all,
We are running Enterprise Vault 10.0.1, and Exchange 2010 SP2 (UR5-v2 applied)

We applied Windows patches for this month (Jan 2013) and noticed that EV buttons for OWA were gone.

We tried reinstalling OWA Extension, but that did not resolve the issue. So, we ended up uninstalling following patches from CAS server:
KB2736418 (.NET FW patch)
KB2742598 (.NET FW patch)
KB2756920 (.NET FW patch)
KB2757638 (XML Core services patch)

After uninstalling these, everything is back to normal.

My question is, what would I need to do on CAS server after applying above patches so that OWA plugin works?

Only one Direction is working when useing the move archive function.

I need a solution

My Company has two site running own Enterprise Vault installations. Site A with SEV 9.02 and Site B with SEV8.04.
The move archive function is working from SEV 9.02 to SEV 8.04. Unfortunately that is the wrong direction.
We want to consolidate Exchange and SEV into Site A.
When one starts the the move archive assistent on Server in Site B, it fails at the level where you have to choose a Vault Store in Site A, where the archive is moved to. The tiny window were to choose the vault store on the opposite is gray and nothing is shown.

The funny thing is that the other way round is working but not wanted.

Any Ideas?

can anyone here please share with me how to properly deploy the EV Client version 9 over the existing version 8 ?

The previous SOE that I got was already installed and then deployed to all employee, and now I'd like to do the upgrade for the existing workstation and I wonder what are my options to do the upgrade properly for the Outlook client.

Can EVPM be used to import PST files into a Journal archive?

Hi all

 

Due to a merger with another company I have to import 1.7 TB journal data in form of PST files into a newly created Journal archive. I do not have any CFG files from the export. The Journal archive has no mailbox associated.

Is it possible to import such PST files directly into a Journal archive without having a mailbox enabled with the help of EVPM? I currently use the following INI file for EVPM.

The INI file is saved in UNICODE format. If I use this INI file with the EV service account I always get the following error...

The PST file itself can be accessed with the same account by opening the PST file with Outlook 2007.

Symantec Enterprise Vault 10 Outlook Anywhere Using Checpoint

Hi,

I am using enterprise vault for microsoft exchange. On vault server sll(https) is enabled.

There is an exchange 2010 server. Everything works normal on local. 
But I have problem on external user using  OWA and Outlookanywhere
Syncronization,store, restore not working. 

I dont know how to configure rpc over http connection,rpc over http proxy url, use proxy setting and web application URL on desktop policy

Mail local and external adresses are like below. 

vault1.akr.local(10.0.0.128)  --> vault sever local adress
mail1.akr.local (10.0.0.127)--> exchange local adress

vault.akr.com --> vault external adress
mail.akr.com --> mail server external adress 
Vault.aker.com has an external ip 195.xx.199.128
Mail.aker.com has an external ip 195.xx.199.127

On checkpoint Firewall 
smtp,https request to 195.xx.199.128(mail.akr.com) direct to 10.0.0.128(mail1.akr.local)
https request to 195.xx.199.127(vault.akr.com) direct to 10.0.0.127(vault1.akr.local)

I dont want to use ISA to public sites.  Can I do Outlook anywhere and OWA configration for symantec vault just using Checkpoint firewall.

If it possible How do i need to configure destop policy on Vault server (pc over http connection,rpc over http proxy url, use proxy setting and web application URL) .

Mailbox not listed as "Available" to archive

I need a solution

I have a user that is not seeing the Vault cache in her outlook client. Her toolbar is not showing either. This lead me to the conclusion that her mailbox was not enabled for archiving. I went to the "Enable Vaults for archiving" icon on the top of the EV console, chose list all available mailboxes, and hers is not listed. I ensured i was looking at the correct exchange server. Her account is also not listed in the "available for disable" list.

Her archive under Archives->exchange mailbox, however, is listed and shows as available. I dont think her exchange box is hidden since her info shows up in the global address book (I dont have permisisons to check if its hidden or not).

It may be worth noting that this user worked for my company for a while, was terminated, and was re-hired recently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Documents and Settings restriction for Win7 in PST Policy?

In the PST Migration policy there is a checkbox to restrict searching for PST files to the "Documents and Settings" folder.

On Windows7 workstations how does this work? Does it also look in \users\documents or some other folder(s)?

EV server 9.0.3 EV Client 10.0.1

Hi,

local and external adresses are like below. 

vault1.akr.local(10.0.0.128)  --> vault sever local adress
mail1.akr.local (10.0.0.127)--> exchange local adress

vault.aker.com --> vault external adress
mail.aker.com --> mail server external adress 
Vault.aker.com has an external ip 195.xx.199.128
Mail.aker.com has an external ip 195.xx.199.127

On checkpoint Firewall 
smtp,https request to 195.xx.199.128(mail.aker.com) direct to 10.0.0.128(mail1.akr.local)
https request to 195.xx.199.127(vault.aker.com) direct to 10.0.0.127(vault1.akr.local)

On local network everything works normal

When using outlook anywhere they can do restore and store process. (Just asking credential again at first time) 
But syncronizing to virtual vault it gives error. I haven't found any solution yet. 
The client log is like below. If need i will put the max tracing client log.

Archived emails outside LAN

Good afternoon,

I think I have tried everything but just cannot seem to get a break with this problem of getting Outlook and archived emails to work outside of my LAN. I have two problems that I think may just be the same issue. I have Outlook working internally with the add-in and OWA working perfect inside and externally on IE (not safari or chrome?) but have these two major hurdles

Issue 1:

Getting archived email on any non-standard email clients, ex: IOS devices. The archived emails are listed in the user mailbox with the custom shortcuts but the link is wrong, it is referencing the internal server name.

Ex:

"This message has been archived. Click here to view the original item >link< http://evserver.internaldomain.local.com/enterprisevault/etc......"

Since this references the internal server and LAN of course no external clients can link to it. So none of my iPad users can get old emails and any browser that relies on that link also fails.

OWA works fine inside and outside on IE browsers, it is https://mail.externaldomain.com/. All archived emails open no problem, however if you click the link in the reading preview pane instead of opening the email i.e.: “Click here to view the original item >link< http://evserver.internaldomain.local.com/enterprisevault/etc....” It fails, since it again tries to use the EV servers internal name outside the LAN.

What do I have to modify to get this shortcut link correct? If I can fix it going forward then I can always recreate the old shortcuts if I have to.

Issue 2:

Outlook with the Add-In works fine on my LAN, however outside using Outlook with HTTPS we cannot get any archived emails with the add-in and the internal link reference fails due to the internal server name reference again I assume.

Environment Info:

  • Enterprise Vault 10.01.1171 installed on Win2008r2
  • Exchange 2010 ver 14.02.0318.004 installed on Win2008r2
  • Outlook 2010
  • OWA example: https://mail.externaldoamin.com/
  • FQDN vault server name example: evserver.internaldomain.local.com
